I have a place in northen Utah that gets down that cold in the winters from time to time. You better hope you have a block heater or be prepared to let your car idle...a lot. The coldest its been in the valley there is -34f (-37c) and up on the mountain top -69f (-56c) You don't want to be up in the mountains when it gets cold.

I had this happen in my old Prelude, only it didn't return, it just stuck down. It took about 15 minutes with the engine running to melt the fluid. You should post this to the relevant article on the FP.

After a scare over condensation building up in my engine oil, I let my car's engine warm up to proper operating temperature before doing my short drive to work. Thankfully my little jetta sips gas at idle and had a recent replacement of the plugs, wires, and distributor. Start it up, turn on the rear window defroster, turn off the blower motor and leave the temperature at a middle setting to let the engine build up heat. If I don't do this, the car is next to impossible to shift and drive smoothly.
